Parent Support Advisor (PSA) Role

Hello, I’m Mrs Michelle Davies, Little Bloxwich Parent Support Advisor (PSA).

For over 25 years I have been working with children and families, supporting them through difficult or challenging times in their lives.

We all need help from time to time and it’s my job at Little Bloxwich to make sure you get the support you need. I listen and offer suggestions and advice on safeguarding, behaviour, school attendance and punctuality.

Safeguarding – at Little Bloxwich every staff member plays their part in keeping your child safe from harm. Along with Mrs Taylor, I ensure that any safeguarding issues within school are rightly addressed through our Safeguarding Policies and Walsall Safeguarding Procedures.

Please report any concerns about a child to Walsall Multi Agency Screening Hub, Tel 0300 555 2866, ext 2.

Behaviour – Raising children is a tough job!! I will listen, offer suggestions and advice to you on behaviour management, boundaries, routines, I can support children on a 1:1 basis through listening, understanding and supporting e.g. managing their feelings, controlling impulses, develop self-esteem and confidence, friendship issues, bullying and family issues, e.g. bereavement, new baby in the family, parent’s separation/divorce.

I can also signpost you and your child to other services within Walsall for additional support, when needed. There is no issue too big or small so please come and speak to me with any concerns you have about your child or family life.

Attendance - To ensure your child makes the progress they should and raise our attendance levels we need your child in school!

Each week I monitor each child's school attendance level and take action if your child’s attendance drops below 92%. You may get a text message, a letter, be asked to come in for a meeting or Julie Lewis, Attendance Officer may visit you.

Lateness - Of course, lateness may happen from time to time but if you are struggling to get your children to school on time on a regular basis, contact me for support.

My hours of work are 8.15am – 4.15pm, Monday to Friday. You can usually find me outside the school each morning at 8.50am.

Please don’t hesitate to come and see me any morning. I shall be around outside the front of the school as the children come in. Say “hello”, have a quick chat or we can arrange a time to talk more in private, if needed.
