Dear Parents

Please can I take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Chris Davies, I am Team Vicar in the Parish of Bloxwich and have responsibility for the north part of the town; this includes the Churches of St Thomas’ Mossley and Holy Ascension on Sanstone Road, Lower Farm.

Over the years Holy Ascension Church and Little Bloxwich School have developed strong links which we see as of real benefit for all involved, especially for our young people; and this is expressed in the following ways.

Myself and two Church members act as Foundation Governors of the school.

I am regularly in school, leading whole school worship and on occasions class worship.

I work with the school worship group which is made up of two pupils from each year; together we plan assemblies for the main Christian festivals of Easter, Harvest and Christmas as well as other events such as Remembrance time in November. I also pop into school to offer a helping hand in lesson time too.

Each year children come up to church to take part in Education Sunday where together we celebrate education and learning. Near the end of the summer term year six and their staff come for a leavers assembly where each child is given a gift from the church family and we wish them all the best as they start their secondary schooling journey. At other times we organise visits to Church to support the children’s RE lessons.

As a Church we meet at Sanstone Road each Sunday at 10am for our worship and we often have Sunday school with activities for our children. The first Sunday of the month is family service where all the church members worship together and children often take part in the service too. You would be very welcome to join us anytime.

Five times a year we host Messy Church which is aimed at primary school children and their families and as the name suggests is generally messy and creative.
